Scott Rees & Co Solicitors give youth team
early Christmas present

Skelmersdale solicitors Scott Rees & Co has given a local youth football club an early Christmas present after 30 footballs were stolen. Scott Rees, which specialises in accident claims, has donated 30 new footballs to Dynamo Rangers FC in Skelmersdale to replace the ones which were stolen from the girls Under 13s squad a few weeks ago. “Since the balls were stolen, we’ve had to beg and borrow old footballs which have been a bit past their sell-by date”, said Caroline Stewart, club secretary of the Dynamo Rangers. “But now, thanks to Scott Rees, the girls have got their own set of footballs again; the girls' manager Pam Ashton was thrilled and we would all like to say a big thanks to Scott Rees,” Caroline added. Scott Rees & Co has been supporting youth football in Skelmersdale since 2003, and became the official sponsor of the Dynamo Rangers when it launched in 2005. Royston Smith, managing partner of Scott Rees & Co, said: “The Dynamos are a great part of the local community here in Skelmersdale and when we heard that the footballs had been stolen, we wanted to help. “We wish the girls every success for the rest of the season.” The Rangers field 18 teams of boys and girls from the ages of six to 16. The boys play in the Skelmersdale Junior League and the girls play in the West Lancashire Girls League at Liverpool Road playing fields. More than 220 local youngsters are members of the club and several players have been selected for professional youth academies including Everton FC. Rangers help take disability sport into the future
FRESH from landing the Advertiser’s Disability Inclusion Award at the newspaper’s Sports Awards, Dynamo Rangers FC are helping to propel disability sport towards 2012. Buoyed by the continued progress of Everton FC disability player, and now Advertiser Junior Sports Personality of the Year Lydia Ashton, the club are helping to make sport more accessible in the West Lancashire area. Rangers are working in partnership with Everton FC, AFC Liverpool and the Lancashire Football Association to establish a Disability Sports Club. The after-school event will be held for disabled sports stars from primary and secondary schools in the area.
Every Friday from 4-5pm at the Skelmersdale Sports Centre.
Top coaches from Dynamo Ranger,Everton and Liverpool will put the youngsters through their paces while catering for differing levels of skill. Dynamo Rangers helped trial the event and 60 children turned out for a club which is hoped will act as a springboard for many of the competitors for the Paralympics and Special Olympics in Athens 2011 and London 2012, respectively. Six of the pupils who were at the taster session have since been selected for Sport England’s Equality and Diversity Centre of Excellence - including Lydia. From there, those selected will go through a 20 week assessment as Team GB coaches look for the next crop of medal hopefuls. Another by-product of the West Lancs Disability Sports Club is the hope that a disabled football mini-league can be set up in the near future.
Anyone interested in going to the Sports Club should contact Michelle Hughes on 01695 728 905 to book their place.

Parent
Parents play a crucial part in supporting the involvement of their children with football.
The FA aims to help parents play a positive role, recognising that involement in football can greatly influence the development of children, both in the football envirnment and in their overall lifestyles.
As a result, The FA launched Soccer Parent to work positively with parents, with the intention of raising both standards of behaviour and knowledge, as well as looking to attract new volunteers to the game.
The FA has launched an online version of the programme. Parents, coaches, teachers and young players will find a whole host of interactive information, games, puzzles and downloads aimed at getting the Soccer Parent message across.
The online Soccer Parent course will explain how clubs and schools can organise a Parents Evening to communicate good practice in a fun and friendly way. But the beauty of the internet and its 24-hour access is that the whole course can be easily completed at any time by anyone who has access to a computer.
Soccer Parent is a completely free online course that is available to anybody that registers with FA Learning – The FA’s Educational Provider. Everyone that completes the course and achieves the pass mark can immediately print off an accredited certificate directly from the website.
