Footballers in Skelmersdale were celebrating today following a £349,370
award to West Lancashire District Council by the Football Foundation,
the UK’s largest sports charity. This funding windfall has been added
to the District Council’s contribution of £195,000 for a new changing
pavilion and multi use games area at Skemlersdale’s Liverpool Road
sports pitches. The cash bonanza will allow the Council, in partnership
with the Skelmersdale Junior Football League, to start work in May 2007
to demolish the old, run-down changing rooms and replace them with
brand new state-of-the-art facilities. The welcome addition of the
multi use games area will also allow for formal and informal sports as
well as football training.
