Dynamo Rangers 5 – 2 Ormskirk West End JFC

Blaguegate, Skelmersdale, Sunday 25 October 2009, ko 10:30am

Ormskirk opened the scoring straight from the kick-off as their striker used his considerable size advantage well, bustling through three challenges before placing the ball home, giving Danny Brady no chance. The windy conditions made this a difficult match for the players and neither side was able to stamp its authority on the game in the early stages. Anthony Knowles’ dangerous corner-kick flashed right across the goal and Rangers did test the keeper on a few other occasions as the half continued with Danny Carmichael and Owen Stalker trying their luck from distance but in the main Ormskirk’s defence held firm. With the last move of the half West End doubled their advantage as their striker completed his brace following another powerful run on the counter-attack.

Dynamo were much more like themselves after the break and their passing moves started to exert pressure on their opponents, while Joe Berry, Aaron Millward, Jonathan Kirk and Andre Hughes all helped to keep things tight at the back. Manager’s man of match James Williams forced the ball home from a corner to put us right back in the game. Referee’s man of the match Dean Swindells’ excellent all-round play was rewarded when he burst through to equalise and the game by now was being played almost entirely in West End’s half. Josh Brier’s long range effort was saved by the keeper but as James Kavanagh struck home the rebound he was adjudged to be offside. We finally took the lead when Swindells dribbled through to score from close range. He then completed a fine hat-trick to put the result beyond doubt with a lofted effort into the roof of the net. Reishan Gungor was then unlucky to see his effort come back off a post following a mazy run before
Kyle Till completed the scoring after fine work from Stalker. In the final minute Alfie Owens almost added another goal but his penalty struck a post and his rebound effort was disallowed for not having been touched by another player.

Line-Up (3-5-2): Brady; Berry, Millward, Hughes; Knowles, Williams, Brier, Till, Gungor; Swindells, Stalker. Subs: Kirk, Owens, Kavanagh, Carmichael.

Dynamo Rangers 1 – 2 Shevington Strikers

Lancashire Cup 3rd Round, Liverpool Road, Skelmersdale, Sunday 18 October 2009,

This was a pulsating cup-tie, with quality football played at high speed by both sides. Shevington started the better of the teams, keeping the ball at our end of the pitch. Their early pressure paid off after 10 minutes when Daniel Simm converted a lose ball from inside the box. Joe Berry, Andre Hughes and Referee’s man of the match Anthony Knowles battled well for us to prevent our opponents from increasing their lead while Danny Brady made a smart save to keep us in the match. With Reishan Gungor’s hard work in midfield Dynamo gradually started to get a foothold in the game and after 20 minutes Dean Swindells tested the ‘keeper from distance. Manager’s man of the Match Kyle Till almost equalised a minute before the break with a fierce drive that was just inches too high and to typify the nature of the game Strikers then also went close to scoring with the last kick of the half.

Rangers’ reacted to their instructions to be quicker in the tackle after the break as the game started to become an end to end contest. Simm scored again to give his team some breathing space early in the second half but to their credit, all the Dynamo players responded positively as Aaron Millward’s defending and James Williams’ tackling came to the fore. In the move of the match Till fed Danny Carmichael on the wing who raced forward and fired over an inviting low cross which James Kavanagh swept home at the far post to set up a dramatic finish. Our pressure almost came to fruition but Josh Brier was unfortunate to see his late penalty rattle the crossbar and as the rebound bobbled out, Owen Stalker reacted quickest but his luck was also out and his effort beat the ‘keeper but floated agonisingly over the bar. The game kept on at a frantic pace but in a sporting manner. In truth Strikers threatened on the counter-attack as much as we pressurised their goal for the last ten minutes of this match but they hung on and time ran out in our search for the equaliser. Extra time would have been exciting but it wasn’t to be so a good cup run has finished for us but we can say we competed well and gave a good side a great contest.

Line-Up (3-5-2): Brady; Knowles, Berry, Hughes; Till, Williams, Brier, Carmichael, Gungor; Swindells, Stalker. Subs: Millward, Kavanagh.

Rishton United 1 - 4 Dynamo Rangers

Lancashire Cup Second Round, Sunday 27th September 2009 at Primetime, Rishton

Our run in the Cup continued with another fine match, played in a competitive and sporting manner. Both teams attacked from the start in an effort to take the initiative. Rishton went closest first and struck a post but then Dean almost grabbed the opening goal and was unlucky to see his effort come back off a post as the game flowed from end to end. Manager's man of the match Owen broke the deadlock as he outpaced the home defence and stroked the ball home after twenty minutes. On the counter attack though United equalised soon afterwards. Rangers then pressed the home goal but couldn't convert their chances and we were thankful for an excellent reflex save from Danny before the teams went in level at the break.

In the second half Dynamo took the game to United, controlling possession and creating the more chances. James , Danny  and Reishan showed intelligent play in midfield, while Joe Berry, Aaron Millward, Jamie , Andre and Alfie all competed in defence to keep United's chances to a minimum. In fact all fifteen players in the squad made a good case for being named in the starting line-up for the next match on this display. Swindells gave us a deserved lead ten minutes into the second half with a typical stricker's goal and we were close to extending that lead on three more occasions as Anthony swung over two excellent corners and then a right wing cross which all came within inches of being converted at the far post. James then put us in command after an excellent left wing run past a couple of defenders.  Kyle worked hard and threatened to add to our tally but their goalkeeper did well for his team. Our fourth goal came with the last kick of the game from Referee's man of the match Josh which capped a fine performance.

(3-5-2) Brady; Tomlinson, Berry, Owens; Gungor, Williams, Carmichael, Brier, Till; Swindells, Stalker. Subs: Millward, Hughes, Knowles, Kavanagh.

Polo 4 – 4 Dynamo Rangers

Sunday 18 September 2009                 Liverpool Road            ko 10:30am

This was a very exciting match with plenty of goalmouth action. Polo’s older players started stronger and went into an early lead and then continued to put Dynamo under pressure. It took some time but Rangers recovered and fought their way back into the game. Danny was first to react in the penalty area and equalised with his first goal of the season. Polo regained the lead straight from the kick-off but undeterred, Rangers stayed in the game and Referee’s MOM Owen struck a deserved equaliser to put the teams level at the break.

Dynamo continued their good play into the second half with Manager’s MOM James showing great strength in the centre of midfield. Dean fantastic strike from outside the area put us in front as Rangers took charge at this point. Swindells struck the crossbar and Stalker hit the post before Josh smashed home our 4th goal with his left foot. Polo were soon back in the game though as they scored on the counter-attack and with their heads back up, they struck again to level the scores once more. James almost secured victory late on but his scrambled effort came back off a post. All of Rangers’ players showed great commitment and can be pleased with their efforts on the day. We can even feel a little unlucky not to have taken all three points

Dynamo Rangers 7 – 5 Old Skem Boys JFC

Liverpool Road, Skelmersdale, Sunday 13 September 2009, ko 10:30am

Dynamo started their opening league match of the season well, playing good passing football from the first whistle. Swindells gave us the lead with a typically cool finish when through on goal against the ‘keeper. Old Skem Boys equalised on the break with a cross that was deflected into our net by a defender. Rangers didn’t allow that to bother them though and Referee’s Man of the Match Owen ran riot with a quick fire hat-trick to put us in command. Sandwiched in-between those goals, James poached his first goal of the new season, following up a shot which had come back off the cross-bar. Old Skem pulled another goal back just before half-time so the teams went in at the break with the score at 5-2.

In the second half credit must go to Old Skem for fighting back. They scored following some early pressure and grew in confidence. With Rangers lack-lustre following the restart, Manager’s man of the match Danny was a steadying influence in goal with excellent handling and great anticipation sweeping up behind his defence. Old Skem were still able to claw back the deficit though, with two further goals to go level at 5-5 and set up an exciting finish to the contest. The second equaliser only served to fire up Dynamo again and within ten seconds of the restart Kyle raced clear of the defenders to place the ball past the ‘keeper for his first goal for the club, restoring our lead. Rangers started to take control of possession again and Josh settled any nerves with five minutes remaining, curling home a trademark shot from just inside the penalty area.

Line-Up (3-5-2): Brady; Berry, Kirk, Millward; Knowles; Brier; Owens; Carmichael, Kavanagh; Swindells, Stalker. Subs: Hughes, Tomlinson, Williams, Gungor, Till.

Lancashire Cup First Round:
Earlestown Athletic 1 - 3 Dynamo Rangers

(King George Playing Fields, Newton-le-Willows, Sunday 6 Sept 2009, ko 12pm)

This was an exciting match played in a competitive but sporting manner which is a credit to both clubs. Dynamo settled quickest, playing downhill we pressed the home goal. After five minutes a typically dangerous Josh  Brier corner was met by  Owen Stalker, whose header made it past the goalkeeper to give us the lead. Rangers continued their fine start with Referee's MOM Danny non-stop energy in midfield. James and Stalker again almost increased the lead with the 'keeper beaten. Athletic forced their way back into the game and Kyle raced clear of the Rangers defense to equalise on twenty minutes but aside from that Danny was relatively untroubled in goal. Dean headed us back in front on twenty-five minutes from Stalker's pinpoint cross. Then right on half-time Stalker's bullet-header from Anthony corner was only inches too high from increasing our lead.

In the second half Rangers' defence gave their opponents few chances with Manager's MOM Alfie Owen in particular turning in a fine display alongside the steady Joe and Jonathan. Half-time substitutes Reishan and James both proved themselves as worthy as their team-mates of a starting place with committed performances on a day when all of the Dynamo players can be satisfied with their start to the season. As Rangers stepped up the pressure Kyle was one of several players to force the 'keeper into a save before the match was settled around five minutes from time when Williams crashed home an unstopable shot from outside the penalty area.

Line-up

(3-5-2): Brady; Berry, Kirk, Owens; Knowles, Till, Brier, Carmichael, Kavanagh; Stalker, Swindells. Subs: Gungor, Williams.
